Ye Alin (叶阿林)
Ye Alin is a distinguished contemporary Chinese painter specialising in guohua (Chinese ink painting). Born in 1958 in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, he is currently Vice Director of the Creative Committee of the Beijing Mingshi Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Institute.
A student of renowned masters Ya Ming (亚明) and Cheng Shifa (程十发), Ye Alin developed a signature style he calls the "New Zhejiang-style painting" (新浙派风情画) — blending the classic literati tradition of the Zhejiang school with a fresh, lyrical sensibility. His landscapes and figure paintings are celebrated for their atmospheric depth, delicate ink-wash technique, and evocative depictions of Jiangnan scenery.
In 2013, the first major domestic exhibition of his New Zhejiang-style paintings was held in Beijing, accompanied by the inauguration of the First Zhejiang Wind Zhejiang School Art Research Association. His monograph Collection of Chinese Modern Famous Painters — Ye Alin was published in 2018, cementing his standing among China's leading contemporary painters.
